about

First off, a lot of amazingly talented musicians came and contributed on this record. This is the first of two EPs. It was recorded literally while Engine studio was in the process of moving to their new location. Making Bad Bad Meow one of the last bands to record at Engine original space. Bad Bad Meow was just excited to be recording in the same studio as Andrew Bird , Iron and Wine, and Modest Mouse(just to name a few). They originally started in the B room and had to move to the A room because the console was being sold to another studio. Mike Novak (head intern of Engine studio) recorded, mixed , engineered, and played on this record. He put a lot of love into this record. During the recording process he took Bad Bad Meow from the diy garage band sound of the earlier recordings and made Bad Bad Meow a band with a well defined huge sound. You can hear the comparison on songs like "run through the middle" that was recorded on "big phat pussycat". When the album was mixed it was sent to the very talented Hans Dekline (Maypole) to be mastered at sound bites dog. He was booked up for 3 months but promised and delivered an excellent mastering job that put the final touches on this record.

about

Up and coming "acoustic country punk" band Bad Bad Meow recently migrated from the deep south of North Carolina to take the city of Chicago on a ride. The band delivers a fun, energy packed set with clever and edgy lyrics that you can't help but find yourself humming later. They've successfully created their own unique style vaguely reminiscent of The White Stripes, Violent Femmes, or the Pixies. ... more
