about

This was truly a lost album.

Originally written by Alen as a solo record loosely based on a breakup called Women, Smoking and Cats in 2006, this was recorded when Alen and Sarah were living together after the Big Phat Pussy Cat Album in 2011.

After obtaining unmixed tracks from Sarah these tracks sat for years before Mike Novak (Engine Studios, Secret Colours) agreed to mix them in 2014.

The album April From Chicago is comprised of both the original Women, Smoking and Cats solo tracks as well as full band versions.

April From Chicago features Sarah Sydow on drums, Will Wholsome from Teenage Rage on keys, Chris Ray on slide guitar, Stan Träger on bass on track , Wick Wickline on bass, washboard, guitar, on Women smoking and cats. and Alen Khan on vocals, guitar, glockenspiel, accordion, and bass.

Special thanks to the real April for allowing me to use her picture!
